The International Jazz Festival - Bansko has become emblematic for Bulgaria, spreading the soul of jazz across Bansko and transforming the town into a capital of improvisational music. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Emil Iliev and inspired by his love for music, the open-air festival has been held annually at the beginning of August presenting the best of world jazz music. Since the festival’s founding, the beautiful town of Bansko has welcomed over 500 000 people inspired by jazz music. World greats such as Scott Hamilton, Freddy Cole, Solomon Burke, Joss Stone, Benny Golson, Ray Gelatto, Candy Dulfer, Patti Austin, Monty Alexander, Maceo Parker, Milcho Leviev, and many other famous singers and musicians have all performed on the festival stage not to mention a vast number of well-established Bulgarian jazz and pop performers. All children under the age of 14 will be free of charge. The organisers will comply with all measures enforced by the Ministry of Health and social distancing in the seating area.
